Sailing the calm waters of Grand Cayman on our
J-22 is
an
experience you will never forget. This private charter will
take your group of up to 5 passengers to the calm waters of the
North Sound in the privacy and comfort of your own sailboat.
Captained by a season sailing veteran, (His roster of expertise and
racing regattas is too ample to list) John Michael will take you to areas
inaccessible by the average vessel with the flexibility of having
your own sailboat in the Grand Cayman Islands.
This excursion offers the very best
of Grand Cayman by combining sailing to the World Famous Stingray
City Sandbar along pristine mangroves, to fantastic beach stops along the
way. This Cayman Sailing Excursion, being a private charter,
will add plenty of flexibility to your itinerary by enabling you to
choose how much time you would like to stay at the Stingray City
Sandbar, how much time you would like to stay at the beach instead,
or to simply sail all over the pristine Mangrove Grand Cayman has to
offer while exploring for wildlife, Turtles, enjoy a little fishing and
more!
The Stingray City Sandbar in Grand Cayman is by far the most
popular
location when it comes to encountering marine creatures, the
interaction is truly unique. The Sandbar is
barely 3ft deep offering numerous Southern Stingrays eager to
interact with passengers standing on this beautiful underwater beach
(or is is the food they really want) At Stingray City you will
be feeding, petting and interacting with Southern Stingrays for
approximately 30 minutes before sailing back to the deserted beaches
of Rum Point and Cayman Kai.
Following a short sail back from Stingray City you
will arrive at Starfish Beach, a deserted picturesque location at
the tip of the Island where you will find millions of shells on the
beach and starfish in barely 3ft of water (The Starfish are not for
the taking, pictures only please) Catch some rays and
enjoy the beach in preparation for your mangrove exploration.
The way back to the staring point of your sailing
excursion
will take you through Booby Key, a protected area in
Grand Cayman famous for it's wildlife. This area is where
large flocks of tropical birds are found as well as a mating area
for Sea Turtles.
While sailing to the Protected areas you will also
troll for fish. We realize that fishing and a sailing/snorkeling
excursion may sound unique, we have to admit that ever since the
lines were dropped in the water on the first few charters fishing
has become part of the tour due to the enjoyment of the passengers
at the time. Perhaps it was all the fish they were able to
hook, or the fun they had overall, regardless the fishing while
sailing remained on the agenda either way.
Whether you are a season sailor or a beginner this
excursion will be equally enjoyable. For avid sailors it will
give you the chance to sail at your heart's content. For
beginner sailors it will be the sailing lesson you will never
forget.
J-22's are considered World Class Racing Vessels, a pocket racer
if
you will. They are responsive, stable with its fixed lead
keel and safe, as much fun to single-hand with the main sail only as
it is to plane under spinnaker in 18 knots of wind. This
excursion will take you away from the everyday and appeals to all
ages and skill levels. With this brand new excursion you can have
world class speed and admire amazing wild life all in one.
J-22's are widely used for the famous Rolex International Regattas®
and are considered "true racers" which can be easily sailed
by non-pros. (The Charter is Captained by a seasoned veteran and
instructor)
Your Capt. and personal Guide, John Michael Stafford, with over
20yrs experience on J-22's, (from 22ft to 46ft J-Class Vessels) has
avidly competed in many World Class Regattas, including the Pan
American Games, World Championships in the USA (FL, TX, MD to name a
few locations) Europe, Jamaica as well as the prestigious 1998
Summer Olympics for the Cayman Islands.
Transport is included in the Private Charter costs, as well as
cold bottled water and soft drinks.
